Looking to join our Portfolio Review on Tuesday 28 January? You’re in the right place! We have not one, but two Portfolio Reviews lined up for you this month, both with a focus on getting into graphic design. So if you’re a UK-based creative who is studying, recently graduated, or are within the first year of your career, this is a great opportunity to meet experts and get feedback. Be quick – applications close on 12pm on 17 January 2025!

In January we’re excited to offer not one, but two Portfolio Review events, designed to give you the opportunity to receive personalised feedback, get inspired by others, and take your work to the next level.

When and where?

Our Portfolio Review events take place over Zoom. This article is for those looking to apply for our Portfolio Review event on Tuesday 28 January 2025, from 5pm to 8pm.

There are a limited number of places available, so make sure you apply below to register your interest by 12pm on 17 January 2025.

How to apply

Our Portfolio Reviews are open to students, grads, or those within the first year of a creative career. You are only eligible to apply if you are:

  • Not in full-time creative work
  • Within the first year of your career
  • Based in the UK
  • Aged 18 and over

You will be required to have something to show (e.g. one to two projects or pieces of work that capture what you do) but don’t worry if this isn’t a polished portfolio.

Please note

  • You can only apply for one event.
  • You cannot attend both events.
  • If you don’t have a preferred date, you can let us know in the registration form.
  • There are a limited number of spaces for each event, so registering doesn’t guarantee a place.

How will it work?

Our Portfolio Reviews are fast-paced: in breakout rooms of three emerging creatives and one reviewer, you will get the opportunity to show and discuss work, as well as get advice and feedback. This will then rotate, so you’ll get to meet several reviewers throughout the evening.

Applications and deposits

How do we select attendees for our Portfolio Review events?
In line with our aim to encourage greater transparency and representation within the creative working world, we prioritise candidates from historically underrepresented backgrounds in the creative industries.

This includes (but is not limited to) applicants from ethnically diverse backgrounds; the LGBTQIA+ community; those who are neurodivergent; D/deaf, disabled or have a long-term health condition; and applicants from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Due to high demand and limited spaces we also aim to prioritise applicants who have not yet attended a Creative Lives Portfolio Review event.

Deposits

Those invited to attend will be emailed a week before the event and asked to pay a £5 deposit. This is to confirm your attendance and will be fully refunded after the session.
