Deciding on which part of the industry you’d like to work in is one thing, but knowing where to find relevant and inspiring workplaces is another. And with so many creative companies across the UK, expanding your knowledge of who’s out there can certainly give you a leg up. So every few weeks, we’ll be helping you discover new studios, agencies and more by highlighting a range of them up and down the British isles. This week, we’re heading to the South West’s most populous city, Bristol!
Known as the birthplace of beloved characters such as Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, as well as the famed artist Banksy, Bristol is also home to a range of world-renowned cultural and creative institutions – from the Bristol Old Vic to Europe’s largest street art festival, Upfest.
Beyond its cultural scene, Bristol is also a world-class innovator. The city invested £46 million in collaborations between academic institutions and creative industries on technological innovation, and knowledge sharing. MyWorld, a soon-to-be-launched creative media production and technology facility established by the University of Bristol, is set to create more than 700 jobs and make the South West an international pioneer in screen-based media.
