Based in LA? Join our online Portfolio Review with creative teams at Google
Together with the team at Google Events and Experiences, we’re bringing you a special US edition of our portfolio reviews, with a focus on a range of design specialisms – from art direction to graphic, interior, spatial and experiential design. So if you’re based in Los Angeles, and available on 7 February 2024, make sure you sign up for your chance to join us.
On Wednesday 7 February we’ll be hosting a portfolio review for a wide range of budding designers in Los Angeles, together with members of the Google Events and Experiences team.
This is your chance to network and get feedback from Google creatives who serve as the maker team for all of the company’s biggest events and experiential work. See below for some of their recent projects, including creating the YouTube Shorts Drive-Thru for VidCon, designing the Google I/O 2023 event, and creating the Google x Android presence at last year’s CES trade show.
This portfolio review is open to creatives from a wide range of disciplines, including graphic design, conceptual design, art direction, interior design, experiential design and spatial design.
So whether you’re a renderer that loves stage design or type expert, or graphic designer with a passion for big Keynote presentations, if you’re interested in using design to make real-life things – we want to hear from you!
The event will be your opportunity to:
- Chat to a range of creatives from Google
- Get insight on what the team looks for in new talent
- Receive one-to-one advice and feedback on your work
- Meet inspiring fellow emerging creatives
When and where will it be happening?
📍 Where?
The event will take place at Google Venice in Los Angeles.
The space will be fully accessible, but you can let us know about any access requirements in the registration form.
⏰ When?
Wednesday 7 February 2024, from 10:00 to 12:00 PST. There are a limited number of places available, so make sure you register your interest before 23:59, 26 January.
How will it work?
The event itself will be fast-paced, offering the opportunity to show and discuss work with several reviewers throughout the time, to receive advice and feedback.
We will kick things off with introductions from the Creative Lives team, followed by the team at Google Events and Experiences. After that, the portfolio reviews will take place in one-to-one groups, made up of one emerging creative and one reviewer each time.
Who will be there?
On the day, we will be joined by 12 up-and-coming creatives, who will be connected with 12 members of Google’s Events and Experiences team, from the Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York offices. These reviewers will represent a mix of specialisms and creative backgrounds, including:
- Designers
- Creative directors
- Art directors
- Copywriters
- Experiential designers
How to apply
This session is open to students, grads, those currently seeking work or working in the creative industry. Please note, you are only eligible to register if you:
• Are aged 18 or over
• Are based in the US
• Have a maximum of three years professional experience in the creative industry
As part of the application process, you will be required to have something to show, but this doesn’t have to be a polished portfolio. We also recommend keeping this to one to two projects or pieces of work that capture what you do.
