Join our IRL Portfolio Review with creative teams at Google

Together with the team at Google, we’re bringing you a special IRL edition of our Portfolio Reviews in London! The event is open to creatives who are passionate about exploring technology in their work, so whether you’re a graphic designer who loves experimenting with creative technology or a filmmaker using AI to imagine the future – we want to hear from you! It’s all taking place in London on Thursday 7 November 2024, be sure you register below for the chance to join us.

On Thursday 7 November we’ll be hosting a portfolio review for multidisciplinary creatives in London, together with members of different teams working across Google.

The event will be your opportunity to:

  • Chat to a range of creatives at Google
  • Get insight on what the team looks for in new talent
  • Receive one-to-one advice and feedback on your work
  • Meet inspiring fellow emerging creatives

The event itself will be fast-paced, offering the opportunity to show and discuss your work with reviewers from the Google team and your fellow creatives, to receive advice and feedback.

Who can apply?

This portfolio review is open to creatives who are passionate about exploring technology in their work. You could be:

  • A graphic designer experimenting with creative technology
  • A motion designer using AI to push the boundaries of animation
  • A copywriter bringing stories to life with innovative tools
  • A creative using AI to imagine the future
  • A filmmaker exploring new techniques in editing and cinematography
  • A creative technologist blending art and code

And anything in between – no matter what your creative specialism, background or discipline – if you're interested in using technology in innovative ways, we want to hear from you!

The session is open to students, grads, those currently seeking work or working in the creative industry. To register, applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Have between 0 to 5 years’ professional experience in the creative industry

There are a limited number of places available, so make sure you register your interest before 11.59pm, 13 October!

When and where will it be happening?

The event will take place in-person at the Google offices in East London.
The space will be accessible, but you can let us know about any access requirements in the registration form.

When?
Thursday 7 November 2024, from 2pm to 6pm GMT.

Who will be there?

On the day, we will be joined by 30 emerging creatives and 10 multidisciplinary creatives working with Google’s marketing teams, including Google Creative Lab and YouTube.

This Portfolio Review is a chance to meet and get feedback from creatives who are exploring how technology meets creativity in their work. In the past, their projects have:

Creatives at Google produced the 2024 Earth Day Google Doodle for a global audience of billions. The Google letters in the Doodle showcase “some of the places across the globe where people, communities and governments work every day to help protect the planet’s natural beauty, biodiversity and resources”

How to apply

Click the button below! As part of the application process, you will be required to have something to show. This could be a short PDF showcasing a few projects or pieces of work that best capture what you do – or links to work hosted online, such as on your social platforms or website.

🚨 Please note
This event will take place in London. While we welcome applications from those who are based elsewhere in the UK, we are unfortunately unable to cover any travel costs.

Registration and deposits

How do we select attendees for our Portfolio Review events?
In line with our aim to encourage greater transparency and representation within the creative working world, we prioritise candidates from historically underrepresented backgrounds in the creative industries.

This includes (but is not limited to) applicants from ethnically diverse backgrounds; the LGBTQIA+ community; those who are neurodivergent; D/deaf, disabled or have a long-term health condition; and applicants from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Deposits
Please note that registering for this event does not guarantee a place. Those invited to attend will be emailed a week before the event and asked to pay a £5 deposit. This is to confirm your attendance and will be fully refunded after the session.
