A branch of digital design within the entertainment industry, game design involves the creation of concepts, characters, mechanics, motion graphics, settings and storylines to deliver an immersive and engaging user-experience. They will work with game engineers, writers and developers to create the final product which appears on our screens as an interactive, user-focused interface based on choice and agency.
Skills required for a career in game design include: computer literacy, programming, coding, mathematics, logic, artistic innovation and, crucially, an understanding of and receptivity to the world of gaming and its audience. A game designer has to be able to come up with a concept, style and aesthetic for a game in correlation with the game's intended audience.
