They’re often the first person on the scene, responsible for assembling the rest of the cast and crew and transforming an idea into profitable enterprise. The role involves masses of entrepreneurial flair – for a film to even get off the ground the producer must inspire belief in the project in order to secure huge wads of cash and top talent. It’s their job to ensure the smooth running of all elements of the process, from budgets and schedules to approving locations, health and safety and liaising with production partners, investors and distributors – something especially important during the post-production phase.
