Your Role

Our core business involves both supporting a variety of day-to-day clients while delivering integrated campaigns for large-scale commercial and residential property development. We are hiring for this new role now as all aspects of our business are increasing in volume significantly in 2025 and our technicians and installers will need to focus on production and delivery. As the Studio Administrator, you will be the second member of the Operations Team and will prioritize the fluid and seamless operation of the studio while reporting to the Studio Operations Manager on site in Bermondsey. You will be expected to carry out tasks and then provide critical and productive feedback about our systems to the Operations Manager to inform systemic improvements. This role is a great way to gain hands-on experience in a commercial fabrication setting that is adjacent to a wide range of other creative fields.

Your daily tasks will fall largely into several categories:

Hospitality and Communications

The majority of client interactions will be via email and phone, however clients do regularly drop off and pick up their materials and projects. You will often be their first point of contact with Lasercut but will then also be involved in generating quotes, sending invoices, and getting final design signoffs. This will be done largely through Outlook and our work management software. As you progress in your role, we expect you to become more autonomous in studio maintenance and working with clients to gather all off the necessary details for our technicians to produce the work.

Logistics and Coordination

Our focus on fabrication requires the routine and effortless flow of material in and product out. You will be central to this and will handle intake and shipping processes daily. Your immediate duties will include ordering project materials, issuing POs, submitting expenses, handling paperwork for goods, and packing shipments. Over the next year, we expect you to contribute to significant improvements in this system, led by the Operations Manager.

Studio Operations

With the planned addition of six new staff in 2025, we expect to be at a head count of fourteen by the end of the year. This will required dedicated effort to make the studio a pleasant and rewarding place to work. You will be handling all internal logistics such as ordering consumables, arranging cleaners and waste management, tidying the studio and other various things.

Your Experience and Qualities

Required

  • familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and/or vector-based artwork; all of our machines require this and ‘speaking the language’ is essential
  • broad proficiency in office admin apps; how to use basic software effectively should not be something we need to put effort into in your role
  • optimistic and outcome-based reasoning; look for opportunities to improve the system and ruthlessly make decisions that will lead to good results
  • a love for detail; tracking payments, materials, and other ‘line item’ transactions flawlessly will be a huge party of your role
  • a service attitude; we’re all here to make cool stuff for people and work with them in a patient and agreeable way

Preferable

  • being a maker, fabricator, or creative of some sort; knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques would be a great jump-start into this role
  • experience in the daily work outlined above; client communications, finances, logistics and office admin
  • hands-on; occasionally we all need to jump on a project to get it out the door
