£1,500 first prize.
For writers worldwide and novels or graphic novels suitable for readers age 12 and older. Anyone over 16 years may enter.We are looking for the most engaging novels and graphic novels on any topic, in any style – we want comedy, romance, drama, horror, queer, contemporary, realist, speculative fiction and more.
Judges are Louise Lamont from the LBA Literary Agency and award-winning graphic novelist Hari Conner.
Entry Fee: £15.
How To Apply
Entrants will submit a short extract of a novel or graphic novel for teen readers (5,000 words, or 6-8 pages with finished art and text of a graphic novel, plus a 300 word synopsis). Longlisted and shortlisted authors will be asked for more material, details in the rules below.
At no stage are entrants asked to submit a complete novel.
Entry Fee: £15 per work. You may enter as many times as you wish.
A limited number of bursaries are available for talented, under-represented writersand illustrators through our bursary scheme. Bursaries may be awarded to entrants affected by low household income, all forms of discrimination, disability, who are full-time carers, ex-offenders or affected by any other barrier. In your application we ask you to submit the actual work you wish to enter for the competition.
