Buff is a motion design studio making animation for revolutionary brands, agencies and non-profits. It produces animated marketing campaigns for online, broadcast and on-demand platforms.
The studio’s work includes awareness videos and promotional content for clients including World of Books, Google and the BBC. The team also work with a variety of non-profits including Crohn’s & Colitis UK, Anthony Nolan and Wood Green The Animals Charity.
Founded in 2014 by Chloe and Tom, the company started in a small shared office above The Cheese Cave in Hove. Buff is now a team of ten, working from a studio in the centre of Brighton.

Buff was founded on a love of motion design and the desire to strike a good balance, both inside and outside of work. So while everyone is passionate about their craft, the team are encouraged to leave the office on time – which isn’t often the trend in the creative industry.
The studio designs their project process with this in mind, meaning it’s very rare to see them working into the night. Buff believe that with a supported and valued team, each person can flourish and create their best work.
Buff aims to create a culture where the team feels supported and valued. It does this through a strong emphasis on personal development, encouragement, coaching, mentoring, training and development days to take some time out from client work.
Collaboration is encouraged, and the team is involved in contributing to the company’s agenda and manifesto for the year ahead.
The team also spends time together outside of work with regular social events and away days to learn new skills, improve wellbeing and gain wider knowledge.
As people gain knowledge and develop, Buff add to the team with new entry-level talent.
The studio also aims to make a positive impact through the way it does business and how it impacts the wider global community. This includes giving back to the motion community by sharing knowledge on social media with behind-the-scenes clips.
Buff also attend talent festivals and portfolio clinics.
