Inside the Company

Founded in 1977, Elmwood has grown from a single studio based in Leeds to a successful international design consultancy based in four cities worldwide, with over 200 employees.

The agency’s core capabilities stretch from brand propositioning, brand architecture, innovation, and design strategy to touchpoint and packaging design, motion, and digital design in an increasingly digital-led world.

The agency’s core mission is to help brands become more memorable.

The team designs distinctive visual and verbal identity systems that ensure any brand is recognised in the blink of an eye – wherever it shows up.

At Elmwood, the team strives to create a positive and collaborative working environment where everyone is encouraged to be themselves, bring their insights to the table, and grow both professionally and personally.

Flexibility and trust are core values engrained across the studio’s working style and culture to prioritise employees' mental and physical well-being.

The studio follows an Anchor Thursday approach asking the team to come together once a week for a collaborative in-person studio day, and allowing members to work from home for the rest of the week.

Flexible working and 3pm finish Fridays are in place as well to accommodate individual needs.

The team places focus on encouraging a culture that is inclusive, caring, and welcoming.

The DE&I committee hosts regular talks, events, and inspiring content to educate and celebrate – such as an annual Elmwood Pride.

The London team is also able to merge travel and work, having the ability to work from anywhere for up to four weeks throughout the year with the studio’s ‘workcation’ policy.

Entry-Level Opportunities

Elmwood London is always on the lookout for ambitious recent graduates or final-year students looking to make their mark at an award-winning agency through its paid internship programme.

The programme offers the opportunity to work on real briefs for some of the most iconic global brands in an interactive environment and alongside creatives across all levels.

Internal promotions and reviews ensure individuals continue to grow in their roles and take on new responsibilities as and when they feel ready.

Constructive feedback is at the heart of personal growth, where each member is assigned a line manager for frequent catch-ups.

Several members of the London studio also take on mentoring roles with organisations such as Creative Mentor Network and The Arena.
