by Frankie Mari ResourcesPublished 7th November 2024

Deciding on which part of the industry you’d like to work in is one thing, but knowing where to find relevant and inspiring workplaces is another. And with so many creative companies across the UK, expanding your knowledge of who’s out there can certainly give you a leg up. So every few weeks, we’ll be helping you discover new studios, agencies and more by highlighting a range of them up and down the British Isles. This week, we’re heading to the city of Newcastle in the North East!

Newcastle upon Tyne is a historic city with roots stretching back to Roman times, brimming with rich heritage alongside lively culture. It's now home to over 300,000 people, with nearly 40% of the population under 25 – a figure driven in part by the high number of students choosing Newcastle University.

The city’s cultural landscape is just as vibrant, featuring iconic landmarks like the Tyne Bridge, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and The Glasshouse International Centre for Music across the river. The Newcastle International Film Festival draws thousands of visitors each year and development organisations like Generator, North East Screen and New Writing North help make the region a creative capital.

Newcastle’s creative sector is also growing. According to the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre, initiatives such as the upcoming “Northern Creative Corridor” have the potential to contribute an additional £10 billion annually to the region’s economy. The array of studios in the city plays a big role, and with that in mind, we’ve curated a selection of 9 creative agencies and design studios for you to explore. Keep reading on to discover them all!
