After joining BBC Creative straight out of university, Daisy Adadevoh quickly found herself working on campaigns for some of the broadcaster’s most talked-about shows – including cutting teaser edits for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World and scripting trailers for Shetland. Having progressed from intern to Junior creative in just over a year, Daisy shares how she’s navigated high-pressure deadlines, why missing out on an industry award drove her to push her craft further, and how she channels Luna Lovegood to fuel fresh ideas.
What I do
How would you describe what you do?
I’m a junior creative at BBC Creative – the BBC’s in-house creative agency. We develop and produce campaigns that promote BBC content across platforms like TV, radio and social media. We basically create advertising and teasers for all the top BBC shows that are about to hit screens.

What does a typical day look like?
Based at New Broadcasting House in Oxford Circus, day to day, I work from briefs created by the marketing team. My job is to come up with ideas that answer their creative challenge. A big part of what I do is editing, but we also write scripts, build presentation decks and direct talent.
I’m very lucky in that I get to work on some of the UK’s biggest campaigns, spanning genres from comedy to factual entertainment. My favourite campaign I’ve worked on so far has to be for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs. The World.

What skills do you think are essential for your role?
I think there are three big skills that are essential to succeeding as a Junior Creative. They are:
- Time management – to keep projects on track
- Staying calm under pressure – so you can navigate challenges as they come
- Adaptability – because creative direction can change quickly, and you need to be able to pivot with it
What’s been your favourite project so far, and why?
My favourite campaign I’ve worked on has to be RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs. The World. It was such a joy to work on – full of energy, colour and brilliant talent.

How I got here
What's been a recent challenge you've faced in your career?
A recent setback for me was not getting the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at Gema – an advertising awards ceremony. However, this motivated me to work even harder and produce even better assets in my future projects.
If you could pick a fictional character who’d make a great creative, who would it be?
Definitely Luna Lovegood. She’s eccentric, imaginative and sees things in a completely unique way – exactly what you want in a creative.

My advice
Are there any resources you’d recommend to emerging creatives?
I’d recommend checking out Creative Boom. It’s packed with inspiration, industry tips and a creative community you can connect with.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve received?
A great piece of advice I’ve received is: don’t take feedback too personally. Great creative work is always a team effort – and every note is a chance to make the idea even stronger.
