Are you ready to prompt and play? Join our IRL prompt-off with Google Creative Lab
Imagine a musical instrument that nobody can play 🎺 Or a phone that only works when you tell a joke 🤣 What about a national holiday for people who refuse to split the bill? 💸 If the thought of bringing these to life gets your imagination going, you’re in the right place. This May we’re joining forces with Google Creative Lab in London to bring you Prompt+Play – an in-person event to flex your AI muscles.
On Tuesday 19 May we’re heading to Google HQ in London for an exciting, in-person prompt-off in conjunction with The Creative Lab 5 – a one year paid gig and collaboration at Google Creative Lab.
So if you’re curious about where creativity and generative AI intersect, and want to explore that with a community of like-minded creatives, this is your chance!
What to expect
⚔️ Rounds of creative challenges
Battle it out in lighthearted and unexpected creative challenges! You’ll flex your generative AI muscles using your own skills alongside new tools like Gemini, Nano Banana, Veo and more.
Your weapon of choice? Bringing your own laptop is optional, but having your own pipelines and AI tools installed might give you an edge... If you don’t have one, don’t sweat it – we’ll provide one with Google AI tools installed.
🤩 Hands-on AI exploration
The best way to learn is by doing, right? Showcase your creative superpowers with AI tools, learn from others and get a fresh perspective on what new tools can and can’t do.
🤝 Community and collaboration
Make some new friends along the way! Connect with the Google team, exchange ideas and build new connections with your fellow inspiring attendees.
Who should apply?
We’re looking for UK-based visual designers, art directors, writers, motion designers, editors, creative technologists, producers and marketers who:
- Are aged 18 and over
- Are confident using generative AI tools to build and create new ideas
- Have between 0 to 4 years’ professional experience in the creative industry
⏰ Applications close at 11.59pm on Tuesday 5 May 2026, and you’ll need to create a free account to apply.
What should you include in your portfolio?
As part of the application process, you will ideally be able to share a strong portfolio or examples of your work that show:
- Your experience with AI tools
- Your creative thinking
- Your willingness to work collaboratively
This can include both personal projects or professional work, and we recommend keeping this between two to five pieces.
What is The Creative Lab 5?
The Creative Lab 5 is a one year paid gig and collaboration at Google Creative Lab – a team of designers, writers, programmers, filmmakers, producers, and business thinkers whose mission is to remind the world what it is they love about Google.
“Fivers” work on a range of projects – some big, some small, and even first-of-their-kind within Google. They get the chance to team up with other talented creatives, get paired with a mentor, and push the boundaries of their craft. Fivers are an integral part of the Creative Lab.
