V&A Young People's Team

The V&A Youth Collective is a group of young people ages 18-24, who help shape V&A events and content for young people, while gaining inspiring insights into creative careers, the museum sector and skills development opportunities.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for 12 people from a diverse range of backgrounds and lived experiences, who are interested in any area of art, design, or performance, and in pursuing a creative career. The Youth Collective will be selected based on reflecting a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences, and creative interests.
You don’t need any specific experience, skills, or knowledge to participate. The only essential requirements are:
- You must be aged 18-24 years old
- You must have the legal right to work in the UK and be a UK resident.
- You must be London based and able to attend in-person Youth Collective meetings
- You must be able to commit to attending a minimum of 11 of the 13 meetings.
Participation in Youth Collective meetings is paid at the London Living Wage of £14.80 per hour. There may also be some optional, additional paid and unpaid opportunities.
What will you be doing as part of the Youth Collective?
Members of the V&A Youth Collective participate in a meeting every month, for 8 months (September - May). Youth Collective members also attend four meetings to conceive and plan events.
- You will gain inspiring insights into creative careers, the museum sector and skills development opportunities through meeting museum staff, artists and individuals working in the creative industries.
- You will co-produce events in collaboration with the Young People’s team and fellow Collective members - gaining practical experience in producing events from conception to delivery.
- You will have the opportunity to share your ideas and contribute to the V&A Young Peoples programme and other projects happening across the V&A South Kensington.
- You will have the opportunity to explore the V&A collections and exhibitions getting insight into how the museum works and free access to paid exhibitions.
- You will receive guidance and advice on building a career in the creative industries.
