Join designer and creative writer Zoë Thompson. to learn the art of zine-making. This session will introduce young people to concepts and techniques used in editorial design. Attendance is free, and no experience is needed.

Inspired by our 2025 Ardagh Young Creative's programme theme of Graft (which means hard work, application, and mastery), we invite you to take part in this creative workshop led by Zoë, founder of sweet-thang zine, editor and writer.

You will be guided to discover your values, write your personal manifesto, improve your CV, and make a zine that showcases who you are and what you care about. This could be used for your professional life as well if you wish. Zine-making is a vibrant and historical design tool, and you’ll be able to explore technical skills including collaging, visualisation, pitching, and presenting.

This workshop is for young people aged 14 – 25, and we encourage those who are currently underrepresented in the design and creative industries to attend, especially those who are care experienced, young carers, those on free school meals or pupil premium, young people of colour, and those with a disability or neurodivergence.

This event aims to equip young people with a useful skill to add to their portfolios, spark their creativity, and offer them the opportunity to meet professionals from different design disciplines and creative fields.
