Rosetta’s Artist Accelerator programme helps kickstart the careers of local artists that have faced barriers to their careers.

This year we will select another five artists and provide them with access to networks, know-how, funded opportunities for public engagement and display of work, as well as mentoring sessions with experienced professionals, all to help develop their socially engaged practices in the local community.

Who is Artist Accelerator for:

  • We are seeking East London-based visual artists—with priority given to those living or working in Newham—who are eager to evolve their practice as ‘Artist Activators.’
  • This program is designed for creators over 18 (and not in full-time education) who are passionate about socially engaged art, local ecology, and community-led placemaking.
  • We are specifically looking for collaborators who want to interrogate the role of art in the public realm while connecting with a peer network.
  • We committedly encourage applications from artists who have faced barriers to development, particularly those from working-class, disabled, and ethnically diverse backgrounds, as we work to champion voices currently underrepresented in the cultural sector.

The training programme will build up to:

  • A Paid Commission for a Public Eventwith East Village, in partnershipwith the Urban Heat Collective at UCL A site-specific, public event or artwork designed in collaboration with local organisations, the Urban Heat Collective at UCL, The Conservation Volunteers and local communities; focused on arts, culture and nature at East Village.
  • Artist Accelerator members will develop and deliver the project and each will be given a fee of £1000 and a small bursary of £70 for travel or childcare costs.
