Brand Strategy & Marketing Intern
Tova Earth

Brand Strategy & Marketing Intern
Why this matters
Water is the defining challenge of this century. It touches literally everything — food, energy, health, ecosystems, economic stability — and the gap between the scale of the problem and the quality of the tools available to solve it is enormous. Climate is destabilising supply while demand grows, and the systems used to manage trillions of dollars of water infrastructure still rely on outdated models and incomplete information.
Tova exists to close that gap. We've built a physics-informed AI platform — trained on how water actually moves through the physical world — that gives utilities and water-dependent organisations decision-grade intelligence at a fraction of the time and cost of the status quo. We have four US utility pilots underway, including one of the largest in California. We're a Techstars company. We're VC-backed and closing our seed round. And we are just getting started.
Tova's brand, voice, and story are being defined right now. We need someone exceptional to help define them.
The team
Tova was founded by Dr Alexa Bruce, a water-resources engineer and machine-learning PhD with a decade spanning engineering, infrastructure policy, and applied research — and Prof. Casey Brown, one of the world's leading hydroclimatologists, whose methods for climate stress testing and water systems planning are used by the World Bank, USAID, the UN, and major utilities across four continents. This is their life's work.
The team around them spans hydroclimatology, AI, water resources engineering, product, and finance — many with years of shared context built across research groups at UMass Amherst, Cornell, and Columbia. The science team has led major climate-risk and adaptation projects for national governments, international development organisations, and utilities around the world. This is a team of deep domain experts who are building their lifes work.
What this role is
We need someone to help build how Tova shows up in the world — from scratch.
This isn't "support the marketing team." There is no marketing team yet. You'd be working directly with the CEO and Founders' Associate to define and execute the foundational brand and communications work that a company at our stage needs to scale.
That means:
- Helping to define and build Tova's positioning, messaging architecture, and tone of voice
- Building audience frameworks across stakeholders: utility operators, investors, enterprise decision-makers, and the engineers and scientists we want to recruit
- Owning LinkedIn execution — weekly publishing, performance tracking, and relentless iteration driven by data, A/B testing, and a commitment to what actually works rather than what feels right
- Creating core marketing collateral: one-pagers, brand assets, blog templates, case study frameworks
- Helping to translate deep technical work into content that is clear, credible, and actually gets read
- Building brand systems and templates that scale with the company
The right person will have real scope to grow with us beyond the summer.
Who we're looking for
You're internet-native — you understand how ideas spread, what makes content resonate, and how to build an audience from zero.
You're AI-native. Not just for efficiency — you think in workflows, automation, and leverage. You build agentic systems that do work while you sleep. You use Claude, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Cursor, Notion AI, Perplexity — whatever the best tool is — and you're always finding new ones.
You think strategically about brand — positioning, audience, message — and you can articulate why one choice is better than another.
You are exceptional in your ability to communicate in writing. You take complexity and make it clear. You can effectively adapt your voice.
You have strong visual instincts and care about design quality.
You are self-directed. You don't need a detailed brief to do good work. You go find the brief.
You are deeply curious and dogmatic about improving every single day. You measure, test, learn, iterate. You care about the truth of what's working more than the comfort of what feels right.
You care about the work and you hold yourself to a high bar. You don't need anyone managing your intensity — you just deliver.
You are all in on this mission. The idea that AI could fundamentally change how the world manages water isn't abstract to you. It's why you want to be here, at this stage.
Show us work you're genuinely proud of.
