Applications Are Open For D&Ad Shift London 2026, The Free Night School Breaking Down Barriers To The Creative Industries.
Applications close 19 July 2026 for the award-winning programme offering an alternative route into advertising, design and production for talented people without a degree.
D&AD, the global non-profit championing excellence in design and commercial creativity, has opened applications for the 2026 cohort of Shift London, its free night school designed for creative people who do not hold a university degree. Applications close at 12pm GMT on 19 July 2026.
Since 2016, D&AD Shift has run as a free night school for emerging talent from non-traditional backgrounds, operating across the UK, USA, Brazil, Germany and Australia. The programme prioritises applicants who do not hold a university degree, or are not currently studying towards one, offering a route into the creative industries for people who haven't had access to traditional higher education pathways. On average, 75% of graduates secure employment in the creative industries within a year of completing the programme.
Across 120 hours of learning, Shifters build their portfolios through in-person agency visits, sessions led by working creative professionals, and live briefs set by global brands such as Airbnb, Spotify and Diageo. The programme runs on evenings and occasional weekends, combining in-person and online delivery so it can fit around paid work, with support available towards travel costs.
Each Shifter also receives one-to-one mentoring and networking support as they build a portfolio aimed at securing their place in the industry. Shift London 2026 kicks off on 22 August 2026, with a showcase in January 2027 where Shifters present their work to industry and pursue placements.Shift is supported by 100s of creatives from the best agencies, in-house teams and design studios.
