Polyester is an independent arts and culture publication with a cult following. Launched in 2014, the London-based print and online magazine covers lifestyle, fashion, beauty, identity, feminism, internet culture, and far more.
It is an intersectional feminist publication that strives to bridge the divide between online feminism and real-world action, in turn amplifying underrepresented, marginalised communities and voices.
Famed for its fun, colourful, maximalist aesthetic, Polyester is at the vanguard of contemporary culture and is a publication like no other.
THE ROLE
To support the day-to-day operation of Polyester while developing hands-on skills in print and digital journalism, social media, audio, social, events, and commercial partnerships. You will learn first hand how a publication is run and get involved in all facets of Polyester, including editorial support, social media support, and working on our membership platform.
This is a placement that will give the applicant a rounded experience of working at a publication, allowing them to leave the placement with meaningful experience in the media.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute positively to the day-to-day running of Polyester
Assist with admin across Polyester site and social
Assist with the running of photoshoots
Undertake editorial tasks such as website uploading, transcription and social media asset creation

We're looking for someone motivated, with ideas, who loves Polyester, popular culture, and the internet, and enjoys working in a team.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this placement, applicants must:
Be currently resident in the London Borough of Islington
Have the right to work in the UK
Be able to commit to completing the full 200-hour placement
Be available to work from Polyester HQ
Essential Criteria
A strong interest in journalism and popular culture
Enthusiasm for learning a range of new skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Reliable, organised and proactive approach to work
Ability to follow instructions and work in a professional environment
Commitment to completing the full placement programme
Desirable Criteria
Experience of some form of journalism
Familiarity with pitching and writing articles
Understanding of intersectional feminism

London Living Wage: £14.80
