Develop your practice as an early-career creative, supporting others whilst gaining experience and an Apprenticeship qualification as a higher education technician.
We’re looking for creative Art and Design graduates who are ready to combine practical studio experience with structured professional development. In this role, you’ll become an integral part of our studio and workshop culture, supporting and inspiring students as they shape their creative identities, while continuing to develop your own practice.
This fixed-term opportunity is designed to help you build momentum at a crucial early stage in your career. You’ll spend 20% of your time studying towards the recognised Higher Education Technician Qualification, with the remaining 80% embedded within our Technical Resources team, learning from experienced professionals and developing in-demand technical skills.
As both a peer and mentor, you’ll support students to navigate their creative journeys and better understand the realities of professional practice. Simultaneously, you’ll build your own expertise by working alongside experienced technicians, bridging the gap between staff and students, building confidence, skill, and a strong foundation for your future career.
Eligibility for this role requires you to hold a BA in an Art, Design, or Performance related field of study. We’re looking for graduates who have had some time to develop their creative practice outside college. You will also need to have the right to work in the UK for the duration of this role. UAL are unable to act as visa sponsors for this position. You must also meet the full apprenticeship eligibility criteria which can be found on the FAQ’s of our apprenticeships careers site including having been ordinarily resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
You’ll also need to show us that you meet the criteria outlined in the Person Specification on the Job Description (available via the application link).
If you have strong communication, planning, organisational, and teamwork skills, along with a basic proficiency in Office or Mac communication suites, we encourage you to explore this role further.
