Junior Art Director
Hijinks

Want to be a Junior Art Director? We have an opportunity to work for Hijinks, a small independent advertising agency in the heart of Soho, partnering with our existing junior copywriter.
We are Hijinks. A small independent advertising agency based in the heart of Soho.
We believe that advertising should be fun. Fun to look at, fun to experience and fun to make. Creating magic out of nothing, dreaming about the impossible.
We’re a challenger agency for brands who have a challenger mindset. Brands who believe in the power of good, the power of creativity and most of all the power of positivity.
Positivity Through Creativity is what we do, how we work and who we are. It’s our internal mantra that pushes us forward and helps us navigate this complex time we are in.

WHO SHOULD YOU BE?
You will be partnering up with Tamara, our junior copywriter. She has been working in the industry for a year and is looking for an art director to accompany her on her journey as a Creative.
You have 1-2 years experience as a junior art director or within a design role. Knowledge of the advertising world is also preferable; knowing what works and keeping up to date with the best creative work out there.
You’re naturally an ideas person who brings fresh perspectives to a brief. You’re happy being parachuted into any situation as an observer, and even happier rolling your sleeves up to get stuck in.
You are infinitely curious and eager to learn, always looking around for inspiration in culture and trends.
You are ambitious and eager to experiment with any media including new tools within AI, Adobe Suite and video editing.
You’re able to take direction from a more senior creative as part of your learning. You’re collaborative, proactive and enjoy bouncing ideas around with others.
IN A NUTSHELL, WE WANT:
- Creative thinking: you can respond to a brief by understanding the problem, thinking conceptually and developing relevant ideas from it.
- A keen eye for design: you have experience and knowledge of the basic principles of layout, typography and visual hierarchy, and know what works across different formats, from billboards to social to film.
- Software skills: experience with Adobe Creative Suite and AI software.
- Presenting skills: you can explain ideas to the wider creative team as well as clients.
- Keen to learn and proactive: as a junior, you actively want to get better.
- Organised and reliable.
- Fun and energetic: you work hard, play hard and will be a great addition to the Hijinks team.
- Positive and supportive: 1 + 1 = 3, after all.
- On the pulse of creative culture; You have a bank of references; creators, designers, photographers, directors, to whom you respect and admire.
