Careers Evening is a chance for people aged 14-21 years old to hear from professionals earning a living through music, including, but not limited to, as a performer. Discover more about the music industry and plot your creative journey.

16:00 – 19:00 Network with stallholders – Learn about the work of different London-based organisations and find out about potential opportunities

16:15 – 16:45; 17:00 – 17:30 Syncing Workshop: Music for TV and Film with Michelle Nnadi.

Michelle is Global Asset Coordinatory for Warner’s Global Sync Department. From getting her start through Small Green Shoots’ Short Sharp Shot Programme to securing a key role at a major label, Mish’s journey is a testament to the power of early career networking.

16:45 Performance from MIRI.

MIRI roles have included music facilitation, mentoring and pastoral support work.She’s worked for Young Lyric, Somerset House, Soundcastle, Attitude is Everything, Spark The Noise (previously Girls Rock London), Wigmore Hall, Newham Music and many more. MIRI has ran open mic sessions in mental health wards for organisations who specifically target groups that are unjustly represented in the mental health system.

MIRI’S performance will be followed by a drop-in Q+A.

18:00 – 18:30 Panel: Music Can Pay the Bills with artist Young Athena, archivist Naz from Newham and artist-educator Nia Ekanem.

Listen to young artists and cultural professionals discuss how they overcame institutional inequalities and bias against music as a professional industries to carve out successful careers.

18:30 – 19:00 In Conversation: Backstage Careers

With award winning production manager Pembe Tokluhan and rapper, audio producer Mae-Li Evans, and educator and youth professional development leader Shay Mula
