Our new internship scheme kicks off this October. We’re looking for a curious, collaborative Words Intern ready to take their first steps in the industry and excited to bring brands to life through language.
About Reed Words
Wherever words meet brands, we’re there:
Tone of voice, messaging, naming, strategy, OOH, training, packaging, films, UX, websites, social, internal comms, white papers, fundraising, brochures, digital campaigns…
And we do it for clients in every sector, from Google to McDonald’s to the National Theatre.
This is your chance to join a team 100% focused on words, collaborating with other writers who’ll challenge you and help you grow.
About you
You may be starting out, but that doesn’t stop you stepping up.
Whether you’re collaborating with writers, creative directors, or client teams, you’ll bring fresh ideas and energy to help us do our best work too.
You read as much as you write. You have opinions on what excites you. And you’re genuinely curious, with a strategic eye to match your writerly chops.
About the role
This is a six-week placement, Monday to Friday, from October 5th to November 13th. You’ll work with writers from across our team on all sorts of projects. We’ll help you to develop your:
- Craft – Sharpen your skills through live projects and portfolio-boosting test briefs. We’ll give you meaningful feedback to make sure you come away a stronger writer and creative.
- Confidence – There’s more to being a Writer than writing. Whether it’s an internal check-in or client workshop, you’ll pitch your ideas and present your work with clarity and confidence.
- Connections – Reed Words is just the start. You’ll have plenty of chances to grow your network and get a better understanding of how the industry works, with intros to other branding agencies and design houses.
This is an entry-level role. Candidates must be 18 or older, and have the right to work in the UK. You’ll work from our Soho office, just opposite Tottenham Court Road. We’re in the office Tuesdays and Thursdays, and those days are really important – you must be able to commit to them.
Benefits
- Hybrid working (three remote days a week)
- Weekly team meal
- 4pm finish on Fridays
- Office opposite Tottenham Court Road station
Diversity
The creative sector needs to get more diverse, fast. And it’s on all of us to do our part.
So we’re especially keen to hear from writers whose backgrounds are underrepresented in our industry. We’re actively working with organisations tackling this problem to get this ad in front of more people and make our recruitment pool as wide-ranging as possible.

How to Apply
A portfolio or a degree in a relevant field are helpful – but aren’t necessary to apply. Above all, we’re interested in your passion and potential.
We split our process into two stages:
- CV and form submission review: complete the form by sharing your CV, and telling us a little more about you. If we like what we see, we’ll invite you to an online interview.
- Online interview: join a 30-45 minute call hosted by two members of our team. This is a chance for us to learn more about you, and answer any questions you might have about the role.
If we think you're a good fit for our team, we'll invite you to become our Words Intern.
Applications close on Monday 10th August. We can’t give an exact timeline, but the application process should be around four weeks from our application deadline to making an offer. We won’t keep you hanging – we think you have the right to a timely response.
While we have publicised this opportunity, please note that: (i) the application and selection process is managed by the advertising company/organisation; and (ii) we rely on them to: provide accurate, up-to-date details about themselves and the opportunity; ensure that opportunities are ethical and paid fairly. To report a listing, please email [email protected].
