Free programme to start your HETV career in the North East, West Midlands, North West and South West. Join an insight session, complete the e-learning and apply for a 1-week paid placement on a local HETV production.

Are you based in North East, West Midlands, North West or South West?

Would you like the opportunity to apply for a 1-week paid placement on a local HETV show?

If you answered yes to these questions, these FREE industry insight sessions will lift the lid on what it’s really like to work in HETV, including:

  • Build awareness of the different departments, job roles, and career pathways
  • Provide insight into the freelance nature of HETV
  • Detail the opportunities available on HETV in this region
  • Explain what hirers look for on a CV
  • How you can apply for a 1-week paid placement on a local HETV show. There are a total of 10 placements available split across 4 regions (meaning 2-3 placements per region).
  • By the end of the insights session our aim is to inspire participants to consider HETV as a realistic and exciting career option.

We will be holding Industry Insights sessions – two in each region: one in-person and one online. These will take place across the North East, West Midlands, North West, and South West.

About the programme:

This programme is in 3 parts, and you will be required to attend/complete each stage before moving on to the next stage.

1) Attend an industry insights session – there will be 2 of these per region. One in-person and one online.

2) Completion of Mission Accomplished’s suite of e-learning HETV resources to help deepen your knowledge about how you get started.

  • 3) Invitation to apply for a 1-week paid placement on a local HETV show.
    This programme is aimed at local residents in who are looking to start their career in HETV in their local region.

No previous experience or education in Film/TV is required.

Please note: you are not eligible to attend any part of this programme if you are currently enrolled in school, college, university, or any other formal education programme. On completion of the e-learning you will be invited to apply for a one-week funded placements (10 placements in total split across the 4 regions) on a local HETV show.

The placements on this programme are specifically designed to support young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to access opportunities in the screen industries. All placements on this programme are exclusively for participants who meet this widening participation criterion.

All applications will be reviewed. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online interview.

Prior to starting their placement, the successful 10 applicants will be invited to attend a 2-day weekend residential workshop in Birmingham to further deepen their knowledge about starting a career in HETV and prepare them for their one-week placement.

Travel and accommodation will be provided to enable participants to attend the 2-day residential.

KEY DATES

  • Interviews – January 2026
  • Residential – Friday 6th and Saturday 7th February 2026 (two full days)
  • Placements – between late February and April 2026

The ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund is offering the chance for those from under-represented groups and lower socio-economic backgrounds to apply for Start Your HETV Career In…, a free programme designed to help new entrants take their first steps into High-End Television.
