The Afroniche Society presents The Every Young Photographer, a Black History Month event inspired by James Barnor and this month’s theme, ‘Honouring our Community’ focusing on film photography.

In partnership with C.I.M.E Lab and The Photography Foundation, Limited Spaces Available

The Ever Young Photographer: Photographing Our Community on Film is a talk and workshop exploring how and what it means to photograph Black and African people, our community and through the lens of our guest film photographers.

Inspired by the legacy and works of James Barnor and this year's Black History Month theme, Honouring our community, this session is for anyone who wants to develop or advance their photography practice in a relaxed, low-barrier space, or learn something new. No prior experience is needed, and no camera is required to attend.

Doors open: 12:30 PM

What to Expect

Conversation and Q&A

Join two guest film photographers, hosted by The Afroniche Society, for a conversation-led talk about their work, their approach to documenting community, and what it means to photograph us with care.

A hands-on workshop with Paul Odulate of C.I.M.E Lab

A mini masterclass on film photography and capturing community, followed by a creative session with disposable cameras and Colorama backdrops, with Paul and our guest photographers close by to share their knowledge.

Film photography is at the heart of the afternoon, but the real focus is community: a shared space for learning, conversation and connection.

How to Apply

Join us on the 25th of October at The Photography Foundation, where we will be having conversations and a Q&A with two special guest film photographers and a hands-on workshop by Paul Odulate, founder of C.I.M.E Lab. Come to experience a beginner-friendly workshop on film cameras, working with lighting, how to capture our community and more.

Doors open at 12:30 pm
Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Location: The Photography Foundation, D2, 201, 3 Dormer Yard, Soames Walk, London SE10 0EB
