Upgrade Yourself Takeover: Through Our Eyes, Sámi Art and Culture
Somerset House
This November Upgrade Yourself is taking over Through Our Eyes': Sámi Art and Culture. Join us for an evening full of creativity, inspiration and action.
Explore a dynamic programme inspired by the themes of Through Our Eyes:
- Exclusive after-hours curator tours
- In Conversation film with exhibiting Sámi artists
- Mapping Our City workshop with Kin Structures
- Immersive 'Listening to the Land' Interspecies Soundscapes with Biofonic and FLAP
- Archival Dreaming Workshop with WANAWAL and Êvar Huseynî
- Local land justice collectives
- FREE delicious food from Aram and Cafe Petiole
This Takeover brings together learning, dreaming, creating and calls to action about the world you want to see in your own neighbourhoods, drawing inspiration from Sámi knowledge and creativity, land stewardship and the anti-colonial resistance of the exhibiting artists.
You’ll also get the opportunity to connect with other creatives and be inspired by cultural changemakers whose work addresses the themes of the exhibition.
Come alone or come with friends - we're bringing great food, big ideas, and lively energy for an inspiring takeover of Through Our Eyes. We can't wait to see you there!
Please note: this event is for 18–30-year-olds.
Spaces in some workshops are limited, arrive early to avoid disappointment. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee a space in every workshop for every attendee – but there will be plenty to do across the evening
