POW is part of London's Park Royal and Ealing council’s ambition to create an open access workshop for members of the community to be able to get into different crafts such as woodworking, metal work and digital fabrication

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced weekend workshop manager, with a passion for making, to oversee the safety, operations and day to day management of the workshop space and its members at weekends. This is a part time role which takes responsibility across a range of machinery and facilities.

The role will include opportunities for further training, new machinery and advisory on expansion of the workshop spaces as well as unlimited access to the tools and machinery for personal projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up, operating & maintaining machinery across the workshop
  • Providing inductions and safety information to new members
  • Helping out on client commissions and projects
  • Keeping the workshop safe, tidy and complete for the use of members
  • Conducting Risk Assessments & maintaining Health & Safety
  • Providing status and production reports of the machines
  • Managing workshop inventory, items and stock, including updating systems and suppliers
  • Managing workshop storage and facilities
  • Support members with advice and best practice during workshop hours

Person Requirements:

  • Great interpersonal skills and communication
  • Minimum 5 years experience using wood or metal working equipment
  • Experienced training others in machine usage, best practice and safety
  • Practical knowledge of CNC and/or Laser Cutting and/or 3D printing would be desirable but not required
  • Passionate about helping others learn and make

We Offer:

  • Part Time, 2 days per week contract (currently Sat-Sun 9-6)
  • £12,000 to £16,000 per annum based on experience
